Here, the underlying principle is that little compromises and "little" sins must be destroyed and removed from our lives as they will hinder us from bearing fruit, and ultimately leave our lives empty. It is extremely important we are not deceived with the thought of - little means no big deal.

"Take us the foxes" means take decisive action, attack the foxes.

Often little foxes attack at the beginning of growth. Little foxes spoil the vines when the grapes are tender and not full grown. Little foxes can attack at any time, but they attack that which is weak, that which is not yet ripe for harvest.
