Be the Church

Scott Smith speaks on discipleship this week!

““If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.”

Luke 14:26 NLT

Disciple- A person who is a pupil or an adherent of the doctrines of another; follower

Discipline- activity, exercise or regimen that develops or improves a skill; training

All disciples are believers, but not every believer is a disciple.

Anthony de Mello said “If you look carefully you see that there is one thing that causes unhappiness. The name of that thing is Attachment. What is an attachment? An emotional state of clinging caused by the belief that without some particular thing or some person you cannot be happy.”

“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” John 8:31-32 NLT

“When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” John 15:8 NLT

  • Being “detached” from this World
  • Being teachable
  • Bearing fruit

It’s how we do small groups at the River!

You get to lead or be a a part of your group in whatever you want, wherever you want!

You’d meet once every 1-2 weeks, and semesters run for 3 months.
